I dont mind the idea of @main.
Although i find it quite amusing that rainRo rejected the proposition that someone brought up about having a broadcaster, yet they haven't gotten rid of @main.
Its virtually the same thing... If you weren't going to allow broadcasting, why allow @main? _________________ Characters-

Can't turn off broad casting, we can at least turn off @main when someone's spamming through it. _________________

HA! I knew someone would say that. Should have included this section in my post then.
Option for @broadcast off.
Less spam due to zeny cost. _________________ Characters-

Zeny cost means nothing to the rich, and I mean the filthy rich, like they have enough to buy several GC's. They could just spam broad cast with "B> GC's PM me offerz!" and then we've got their floating yellow message at the top of our screen where it won't go away for a few seconds, or until someone replies (or broadcasts something else) why not like, @kamib or something, only broad casts on that particular map. So that way everyone around them suffers, not everyone on the server >_>. Also, if you made @broadcast off (I believe the GM command is /b) it would restrict us from hearing the GM's with updates about the server. _________________

Rich people aren't usually noob enough to spam chat. This way it stops the poor spamming noob messages.
If you care so much about gm messages, keep the broadcast on then. The messages that pop just above my character, like : "Genetic sprite out now" are sufficient enough for me. _________________ Characters-

No they're not n00b, but they can be jerks for the fun of it. Either way, it wouldn't take much to edit the server to allow /b for all players, but it'd just be another way of doing what we already can do... so... why add it? also, typing @broadcast every time I wanna say something to everyone, would get annoying and take up space that could be used for a response. Why not like, add a button at the end of the chat window for main? kinda like guild, party and open chat have their own little orb at the end but also have commands ($ for guild, % for party, and vice versa when in said mode). _________________

I think we are getting off track. I am not promoting broadcasting here.
ReignRO here did not want broadcasting, the choice of having an on/off option was there for the taking. Rainkid did not want broadcasting in this server as people would be spamming it too much.
Now @main is pretty much the exact same thing, close enough, and is bringing up the annoying things rainkid absolutely did not want in his server.
I am just a little confused as to why its been allowed to go on this long lol _________________ Characters-

And I don't know why it's been allowed to go on this long, possibly cause it required recompiling the server (which is something that I'm told is a difficult task for those who aren't familiar with it). So maybe it's just staying cause it provides some greater good for the server (trading is alot easier now) and would be too much work/too risky to remove now that it's been added? _________________

It is easier. But annoying. I agree with Glenn all the way. Broadcasting requires less spammage, and main is confusing and annoying. I know I could turn main off, but what if someone calls for me or something? They do not want to waste time to pm, so everyone can see what the hell your talking about lol. Maybe 1gc- 1 broadcast would be nice. Rainkid earns money, and we're all happy! Or make an npc, 5-10-15 mill each broadcast. Only required for trade purposes. _________________ One of the oldies.

There is no option to disable receiving broadcasts.
Personally, I dislike @main too. It was included because players thought it might contribute to a better community. And since it can be turned off, it was worth a trial.
But, as stated in my other topic, it will soon be defaulting to off with the ability to turn it on, and remaining on even after relog. _________________ Support Reign Online by voting! |
