^I actually agree with everything Dylan said. First I thought "Are you freaking crazy? Some people actually worked hard for their items!" Then I realized, who cares? Seriously, no one plays anyway, so if wiping the server gets people to come back, all for it. But of course, I would want my donates back <_< And if the frog gets removed, I wouldn't come back anyway.

But yeah, a poll would be interesting, see what people's opinions are.

i would be against the idea for now because, although alot of points have been brought up, i have got some new players to join (grant it very few but its something) and if there is an unexpected wipe (cuz its unlikely they would pay much attention to the forums) they would likely not stay

You know; I know what I said last night to Jay and Trent about not bothering but after readying Bubba's ideas I would agree. I however have a few questions because I don't fully remember what 'resetting' a server fully does.

Here are my questions:

I understand all leveling and levels of my characters will be erased, but do I get to continue my characters being (as in they will just be reset to 1/1 novices) or will they be deleted?

This next questions ties into the question above to, will our accounts be erased as well?

Last questions is; if we do reset and those who donate get all our tokens back, will this include all of the max level gift boxes, bloody branches, etc. items, be included in those returns?

I'll put more into this discussion later.

A wipe is a servers answer to lack of players, adding in a new job tree, and a host of other things. Every server I have been on has had a wipe one time or another to start things fresh, and they usually have had good results. Sometimes it goes the other way, but as the server sits right now, its heading in the wrong direction.

First and foremost let me explain the wipe process. Everything is deleted, all your items, your chars, your zeny, effectively the server will be at day 0. It's a fresh start no one is stronger than the other person. You are all Novices again. For those who won't know about it, it will be posted both in forum and in game. Luzz will let everyone know days before it happens so they can be ready.

Now the Gold Coins, those who donated should get their moneys worth back since its pay for goods technically. For those who did the purchase GC in game approach I don't know how it would work, maybe Luzz could make the Angra and Ahura free for a while to everyone, or make it into a free starter pack where you have it on char for 1 month and after that it vanishes and you purchase it from the npc. Or just make if free for everyone and put something new in the Donation NPC. Solves people hunting for zeny to replace their angra and ahura and gives some balance to the donates and non donate groups. The Max level boxes, BBs etc are purchased through the npc so all you have to do is rebuy them if you want.

You figure it this way, a day zero approach, the amount of leveling parties out there would be crazy. So newer players won't really mind in fact they would get a boost since people will be leveling a lot, which means they can get to 255 quicker then they currently are.

Since no one guild, person, is stronger than the rest, new people will feel comfortable joining the server and being able to contribute to their squad immediately. It will effectively feel like a low rate server, but with 255 max level since no mvp cards will be running around in the beginning.

I also believe Luzz should lock down the client box so only 1 client window can be open. No more double clienting which will make things more interesting. For those who need a warper for WoE, Luzz can add an NPC like other servers or allow the flags to be clickable so members can warp back to their castle. Also by making it a single client, it allows the MVP room idea to work and not be abused by spammers. So it effectively kills 2 birds with 1 stone. If GM's don't like that they can't be on their legit chars at the same time they are on their GM chars then they shouldn't be GM's. Simple....

The server also needs something other servers don't have. The current MVP room is a joke, it needs to be revamped. The donations, they need to be redone stat wise and look wise. I understand NPC's have a limit so remove the ones people don't use and make them quest items like the ice wings and replace them with newer stuff, more useful stuff. With some of them you don't need all this funky skills or benefits on them. It throws people off and makes them look at the server wrong. I will make that a separate post with my ideas on how to make the Donation NPC better if people want.

The server can be saved and be better than before, I just don't know if Luzz wants to save it.

Easy way to do this. Make everyone argue with each other, hope that a huge majority of the people are stubborn and must have the last word, and then wait until WoE or a huge PvP fight.

The obstacle we face now isn't a matter of wiping the server, or us not being up to date, it's a matter of finding people who still actively WANT to play Ragnarok. Sad to say, but RO is a REALLY old game, the interest in Ragnarok simply is not there like it was in the old days. Everyone now is interested in things like LoL, Guild Wars, and things of that sort.

To put it simply...






Ragnarok simply doesn't hold the same online relevance as it once did.






I've had this conversation with Luzz, how to boost numbers, and that was the major talking point.

A suggestion I think that could be implemented if anything, to make everyone happy is to run a secondary server. If I recall correctly, the hardware Reign runs on could more than easily handle running a second server.

We keep this server as is, and the second one would be the fresh start everyone is looking for. Oldies and such could keep their accounts and such on the current server as a sort of nostalgic thing, and new and old players alike could experience a new beginning on the new server.

That way, those who want the wipe get what they want, and those who want to hold onto their memories and past can do so. I'd say it's a pretty fair compromise, and one that doesn't step on anyone's toes.

One more point however, and its one that others have brought up before, it does inevitably boil down to Luzz's choice.

Does he even want to continue this server?
Does he even have the time to invest in working on this server?
Does he even want to save it?

I know Luzz to be one who doesn't do things the easy way, he does things the right way. He's not one to act rashly or impulsively and we all know it.
