So my old one decided to take a crap. Im trying to find something decent for under 500$. Any brands/places to look/buy from y'all reccomend?

would depend on what it is you may be using it for ... cuz for limited gaming you could go for a toshiba satellite L44 i think it was ... the same kind i had ... its got at least decent graphics capabilities but it has only a single core processor and that was about $300 about 3-4 years ago when my mom got it for me

toshiba is alright if your not gonna be using it for gaming cuz most of the cheaper stuff has either a single core processor or a dual core processor though a dual core processor is currently bare minimum to be able to play any and every game but soon that wont even be enough

Try a samsung.They last through all the shit, like me trying to wash coke outta my keyboard with water. And my little brother dropping it on the ground 1,000 times.

They're durable.
