Neo!- my brother is in the U.S Air Force and is an E3 Data Management Tech soon to be E4 and is working with hackers and he is im guessing active since he got shipped to Russia about two weeks ago and i will not hear from him in the next 6 months.
I also have a few cousins in the marines and my father is a retired Sergeant/Lieutenant Vietnam Army Veteran.

Ah Air Force. They're the brainiacs. But they have it easier than us when it comes to workin hard ;D

And yeah I don't even know if the Air Force has a reserve section. Marines are the marines. Thank your dad for his service. That was a harsh era. Shitty technology, hard times for sure. He was enlisted and then went Officer? I love those Officers that didn't go straight to OCS or through ROTC. Awesome people~

Dude i know right my big bro is such a huge brainiac. and yes it was indeed a very harsh one. my dad was recruited by the US CIA as a guerilla warfare soldier for the co operation for the secret war which later became known as the Vietnam War and then became an officer while serving.

history lesson: War often leads to the uprooting and exile of thousands of innocent civilians on the losing side. Such was the fate suffered by the Hmong people of Southeast Asia; most of the Hmong supported the United States in it's fight against communist forces in Vietnam and Laos. In 1975 when communists finally won, one third of the Hmong fled Laos to escape the victor's revenge, 135,000 ended up in the states and 30,000 men, women and children had perished. Of those men and woman, my parents survived.

i would also like to say that this ethnic group is not recognized in history books or even thanked for their service in aiding US troops.
the number of hmong people who did fall it does not include other ethnic groups.
i would rant but noticed i shouldnt be doing this in the photo section.

But yeah anyways. cool beans.

Many history classes in the US public school system never get to the Vietnam War, and if they do, it's usually briefly touched upon and then you've moved on, unlike the Civil or the Revolutionary Wars, both of which receive quite a lot of attention. These history classes have to teach to the book - the books are voted upon by school systems, and in almost every case teach a distorted version of the truth - Christopher Columbus was no hero, for example: he was a slaver and usurper - designed to make the US look better.

In some ways it can be considered brainwashing, and ignoring the cruelties of Columbus while hailing him as a hero is exactly what many history books do with the Vietnam War. It was a bloody war for both sides, with countless atrocities committed. Those American soldiers returned home to a public that almost hated them; they weren't heroes.

So if they ever get around to teaching it, they mention the first use of napalm, the first adoption of the M16, and a few little things, and then drop it like a hot potato because it makes the US look like a country that makes mistakes as opposed to a shining beacon of hope and truth. It's ridiculous. But then, the hmong are not the only people essentially forgotten by history books, and they will sadly not be the last.

This is why I tell people that they should read Lies My Teacher Told Me as a precursor to getting a real historical education - it's like a debriefing.

To apologize for derailing further, here's a kitty!
