I think it'd be a nice thing to try out for a few days. Especially if you can get your cam to follow your character. Id fix the typing by requiring you to toggle enter to type or use wasd/qe. 8D |

Basically what he's asking is that the AQSD keys be used to move instead of using the mouse and click. But if that happens it'd also mean in order for you to type you'd have to press the enter button to activate chat then type normally then press enter to send and then go back to moving untill you need to type again in which case you have to press enter to type and so on and so forth.
And it's for this reason I dislike this suggestion. Not only will it take a long amount of time to write the scripting, I don't think it's possible to do so with Ragnarok Online. _________________

Lol my old game used the arrow keys to move and we had to press enter to talk and use " to pm people. While this setup worked very well for that game, (Dark Ages by KRU if you're wondering), it was not such a fast paced game. Ragnarok requires alot of movement and quick reaction times and I do believe the mouse is the easiest and most effective way to do this.

While this would be good for people on a laptop without a mouse, this would cause more harm then good for people who use /battlemode or a normal mouse I think.

Dread, that's not always the case. For example I use a laptop (because it's the only computer I have) with a wireless mouse.
Neo: Agreed,

Im not talking wasd controls ONLY. You'd HAVE to still use the mouse. Otherwise you'd be stuck with no way to target monsters. I'd just like to be able to hold W or S or something instead of holding the mouse down constantly for two reasons. One, my fingers are wimps; and two, when I get ping spikes my character will stop sometimes because the click signal stopped transmitting. If I were to have W down with a repetitive and always refreshing transmition(for lack of a better word) maybe I wont have to pay more money for a better internet connection. xD |

If I could still use my mouse in the same way I do now, and there was an option to turn the WASD/QE option OFF(so I wouldn't have to use enter to talk), I wouldn't have a problem with it. I still agree with Shadow, though. It'll probably require an ass load of scripting. |

Part of what makes ragnarok, ragnarok, is the way you move your character.
If you want to follow closely on your character and use WASD, maybe WoW is for you. _________________ Characters-

FAIL if a player can still use the mouse, it defeats your argument of having WASD keys to move in-game. Playing games have certain skills required of the player and the developers have established that, they cant just change a game just because you cant play it, what about the others that can play it fine? and besides, its just not scripting, you will have to change the game itself for that. _________________

Well to start, Jog, you sound pretty mad. Kinda like you just got you got Tao Gunka down to 1% then you die and have some guy drop by, kill it, and pick up the card. You've got serious points but I dont think you've played enough games. If you havent found a game that works both ways effectively then you wont see any point in it. Then theres the part which is inevitable where it'll make RO not RO. Ass load of scripting puts another smack down on it. (Yay for positive insight from constructive critics.)
WoW urks me. It sucks so bad its not funny. They make grinding ridiculously irritating and painful. Not to mention downtime for traveling distances, and paying monthly. The list can go on. Im more of a Global Agenda kind of MMO player. RO actually makes grinding tolerable for reasons Im too lazy to go into. (For those of you who will suggest I just go play Global Agenda, I have to break with a classic eventually. AKA RO.)
Anyway, thanks guys. Ill have to take up something with my ISP to stop the ping spikes. Im paying for a 2mbps connection with a 1mbps upload time. I shouldnt have problems with games like RO at all. Could be the noise from temperature changes with the cables running through the ground in this biopolar weather. |

Your saying wow grinding is worse then ragnarok?
I'm sorry but you have a screw loose. Grinding in ro is so horrible its not funny. Same monsters for so long. Kill after kill after kill. At least in wow you can level via pvp, dungeons, questing, killing monsters ect ect.
Ragnarok is still a better game, but the grinding is horrible. _________________ Characters-

After the newest patch, WoW is officially the easiest game in the world. Grinding on WoW is harder than on RO? You've obviously only played private RO-servers, hell, even on private RO-servers, grinding takes longer than on WoW. |

I think what Jogz is trying to say is, if you're using the mouse to click already, why not use it to move instead of adding that little feature? Sure, it'll have a fun little FPS feeling but I don't think it'd work well personally. _________________ Reneshin ~ 255 Knight Lord

i'm neutral on this matter if the suggestion is for an ADDED feature of being able to use WASD for movement.
let the admins decide, i say. they'll do the scripting anyway |
