You played the worst two, in my opinion. =( You should try all the others.

FFVII Compilation, Ivalice Alliance, and Fabula Nova Crystalis.
All compilation yes, but my favorite should be FFXII, reason?
The longest in the FF series with the most hardest quests and bosses.
Pretty challenging and fun.

FFXIII? Pretty straight-forward Action RPG, let's wait for Versus.
FFXIII, so far has the BEST BATTLE SYSTEM in the series. I can actually maneuver and strategize my movements.

FFVII? Only because Cloud's there? Wrong, because nothing beats the classics. Also because Cloud has the biggest sword in the whole series, and the game bosses, and 3 discs that actually made me play more. Razz

Other than that I'd go w/ FFX, and FFVIII great story, but not that good gameplay. FFIX was ok.

FFX-2 sucks, since the gameplay and battle ain't that much of FFX, plus
loadings are long.
Confused

7 isn't a classic. o=
If you want classics, everything before 7 is.

Yes it is classic. Since it's from PSX, and the the gameplay of the old school 2D is still there. I'm not talking about the other FFVII in the compilation, I meant the first.

FF Tactics was very hard too.

If you call it a classic, I'd guess you're pretty young. =P

You really think so eh?
Lol, then I'm laughing so hard. Laughing
I've played since Nintendo's Family Computer, then moved to Sega Saturn, and to PSX, I also have Commodore PET, and 64, also Atari, that was given to me by my folks when I was curious about old games. Yes I'm only 17, but I have played almost every single game that I find awesome, that includes the old classic Castlevania, Pac-Man, the FFII(JP)-FFVI, old classic Tekken, and old rockman, and such. There's a difference between classic and new games.

FFVII is classic, since it belongs to the Fifth Generation of consoles,PSX which is still considered a classic console. Rolling Eyes

The new generation came up in the Sixth Generation, like PS2, Sega Dreamcast, and such, where they left old school and came to the new battle systems. This is where it changed. Rolling Eyes

Classics and new aren't considered in their graphics, they're considered in their gameplay. Confused

Let's consider, Suikoden, which it's style is 2D, but it almost have the same battle system as FFVII, not much just in graphics.

Another is Valkyrie Profile, consider it too, it's gameplay changed in 2, but not by a large margin, some people will tell you at Gamestop, "That's the old classic gameplay I know.", and yes, they're right.

Well, however we want to argue this, a game that sucks cannot be a classic.

I feel old.
I only consider three systems to be "old school".
Atari, Commodore, and NES.

Then I call the following "classics"
SNES, Game Boy (Original. Not color. Not advanced), and all SEGA systems (Dreamcast, Saturn, Sega CD, Sega Genesis, and Game Gear).

My grading system for old school is "so old that younger gamers today have never played anything on these systems" and classics are "systems that influenced the modern market but are now slipping into the old school category"

Many of the young generation are still able to play games from the PSX and N64 through the online marketplaces available through the PS3 and Wii respectively. Because of this, the systems are kept alive. Then the PS2 and Gamecube games are still prominent due to backwards compatibility in the modern systems. ...and I don't even need to talk about Xbox, because it's the current generation's system.

My generation grew up playing Atari and NES.
... I do feel old.

Also, Valkyr_Aesir, not all sixth generation games abandoned what it is to be a "great game". Take "Skies of Arcadia" for the Dreamcast, for example. To this day, it remains one of my three top favorite games of all time. Alternatively, Grandia II was also a very good game for the Dreamcast. PS2, meanwhile, had great titles like Okami and Katamari that kept to the basics of what a good game could be.

=)

Kay, for the people getting all hurt about freaking Final Fantasy...
The whole series suffers Sequel-itis.
You don't see Dragon Warrior fans pulling this crap nearly as often... *sigh*

This is my take on FF. Sing it, and then go play your personal fave. (Don't forget your game guide/copious notes!)
For me, it's Breath of Fire 2... mmm Auto play, and Town Development that lets you bork yourself over! YAY!
/sarcasm.

Breath of Fire II, Skies of Arcadia, and Valkyria Chronicles are my top three favorites of all time. =)

That Final Fantasy song brings back memories, though.
They'll be making those games until the end of time.

I played FF7 until end-game. I found every single item, gained every single level, leveled everything to the max, killed all the mobs. If I remember correctly, I maxed my experience points too.

It was a great time. Thus, I would have to say FF7 was my favorite, though, I admit I haven't played any since then.
