You can find the status and current number of signed-in players under the Information tab at the top of the website. =)

i'm not 100% sure, but i think you can use @who in-game (dunno if it's enabled for players)

You may still use /who in game in order to view the current players that are online.
You're correct that @who is a GM command. It shows the names of all online players.

You only get the total number. =)
