For some reason, when I download Reign on my Mac it just opens up some text with strange symbols, and I don't know what to do about it. My friend says that people play Reign on Macs, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Anyone think they can help?

Reign Online is a Windows-based online game. The code and files used for the game are not compatible with any variety of Mac on the market.

The only ways to make Reign Online run on a Mac is with the help of a program such as Bootcamp or Parallels; or other program of this variety.

As for being incompatible, yes, and no. Gravity has a contract with macroshaft that essentially forbids them from developing the game for other platforms. they do this so they can use their database without having to buy a license for EVERY user. a license costs a couple thousand or something to that effect. rather than take that route, they have a site license that grants them unlimited use but only on the terms microsoft lays out for them.
even if gravity WANTED to develop for OSX, some technologies included with the program aren't going to be developed for it or supported.

As I mentioned, "Or other programs of this variety". CrossOver is a Windows Virtualization tool that is quite similar to Parallels.

CrossOver has it's problems, though. Quite a number of them, but it is an option. I, personally, recommend Bootcamp over all other options.

I think I've heard of Bootcamp before a few times, and I've heard good things about it, so I may try that.
