Can such sorcery be achieved? I ask because on of my friends wants to play Reign, but doesn't want to lose linux, is it possible to make it work? _________________ "The World will know that free men stood against a tyrant. I had Reign on my Linux, but it CHUGGED LIKE A 2 MPH STEAM LOCOMOTIVE
That said, I wouldnt know sadly. If he can get all his drivers going then it should be fine, just use WINE to install Reign and I cant forsee a problem, I was just too stupid lazy to bother to get my drivers in gear and updated to fully use Reign on Linux, and I had a secondary computer so I scrapped it and now use my Linux for browsing. _________________

Because that good sir, would make sense, and thus defuse the entire argument. |

I run Ubuntu but unfortunately I've never been able to get Reign to work. Your friend has two options:
1) Try (where I have failed) to run Reign Online through WINE (an open source program that supposedly allows you to run Windows applications such as .exe files through Linux)
2) Dual-boot Windows onto his computer so that they have Linux AND Windows split on their hard drive and use only the Windows-side for Windows gaming. (This is the method I currently use.)
Unfortunately there isn't a lot of MMO support for Linux distros. Mac seems to be able to run MMO's via Boot Camp decently enough. Is it POSSIBLE to code a Linux version of Ragnarok Online? Likely but no one has attempted it and I am certainly not well-versed in coding enough to do so myself. _________________

I second Venser's attempt. I even have IE6 installed via winetricks, and it still doesn't work (Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat). Actually, the only thing that seems to be bugging it is the graphics, I think, since on the Terminal there's a bunch of "fixme" lines regarding audio and graphics. Maybe it's the transition from DirectX to OpenGL, although I don't get how other people under Ubuntu was able to run the official game (I assumed it would work on Reign as well). I checked it on WineHQ's listing:
Platinum/Gold listing for iRO:

Gold rating for private servers (which may include Reign)
