I am very serious, as you can see.
Here are the few things reign needs:
1. the new hairstyles that are up on all the other servers, they're awesome.
2. novice buffs maybe? for people who do not have angra, a good start, no?
3. QUESTS. I mean it. I am back to play a bit every now and then (like once on every 3-6 months just for the sake of it lol) and i'm bored to death if i don't have people to talk with and leveling is always the same. Make something entertaining like quests for experience and i don't mean like the bio lab quest for a tiny bit of exp, buff the quest exp rate so we actually get something decent.
4. it's time for a few new donates i think.
5. harder monsters on the training grounds, i have to admit i stay there till level 30 when i should simply go to anthell and for the same time i will be 50. but i like training grounds. i stick to basics.
If it depended on me, i would lower the rates and make the max level like 150 or something buuuut that's a bit too much work lawl.
anyway, it's time reign is slightly updated and more fun coz you know, i don't come here often and i don't see any changes at all when i do and that makes me a sad panda.
Good luck with these Han ;D
anyone can add something here btw, if you think it's the right place to, and have a few ideas, because i'm pretty sure i'm missing something. _________________ IGN: Everything with Mao in it.

You're back~ Anyways, I agree with most of the selections, except the making the max level 150. I am highly against that. XD _________________ Reneshin ~ 255 Knight Lord

1. The hairstyles I will agree with. The selection on Reign is somewhat disappointing.
2. While leveling without Angra can be considered somewhat troublesome, it's not overly difficult by any stretch of the imagination. Besides, as it stands, most people who come to private RO servers are usually veterans. Could there be an NPC that gives free buffs to characters under a certain level? I think that would be a good start, but otherwise I don't think novice buffs or anything of the sort would be necessary. I got along just fine without Angra.
3. There are PLENTY of quests. Check the irowiki's quest area sometime. The ultimate problem with the quests is that while the experience they give is delicious (it's also 100x), we can't multilevel off of it and thus the quests are relatively moot.
4. Couldn't hurt to freshen up the list here and there, though if people are getting bored with it, that may just mean they have a lot of donates.
5. If you want to stay on the training grounds forever, that's your prerogative, but as for myself, I stick around for level 20 MAX, then go bugger off elsewhere. I think this suggested change is too self-oriented. Just because you want to stay there until 50 doesn't mean everyone else would. Furthermore, there's a LOT more interesting places to level.
(6.) The rates as they are, when compared to the max level, make perfect sense. One of the reasons I came here was because I had come from a low rate server, and while it was okay, it was nothing to brag about. I wanted something a bit higher in terms of rates and level. Of course, it didn't hurt that Reiji had suggested it. The rates are likely help to give Reign the good ratings it DOES on RateMyServer and such sites. Lowering them would put Reign with another class of server and different competition.
100/100/20 is not overly high, nor is it low. It's just right.
Lowering the max level to 150 would be a big slap in the face to anyone who has put the hard work in getting to 255. I'm fairly certain that if this specific change were enacted, veteran players would leave in droves simply because you took away all their hours of work.
It seems this entire post was written in a self-indulgent nature, as if Reign has to change simply because you want it to, or because you're bored. You say you don't come here often, so why propose changes for the players that are around regularly? Enacting change simply because one can is redundant, a waste of time, and oftentimes harmful.
I, personally, prefer to see some stability in life, and while I could go on for paragraphs explaining myself, I'll let someone else sum it up for me.

I agree with what you said Sekiria, what I suggested is indeed very self-orientated, the only thing I disagree with is the last quote you said. I would like that quote for my home and my parents but for a game, I am looking forward to a change for good, update to better, because games are something that gets old quite fast. It's actually a whole miracle that so many people still play ro, only speaks for itself that the game is worth it, knowing how old it is now.
I personally play a lot of games and I am not active in any of them, I go when I feel like it, and what I like to see when I go back after some time is something new that makes the whole game interesting again.
It is quite 'self-indulgent' of you as well to ask for it to stay the same when obviously that doesn't help the server as a whole, because new players don't like the old, and some veterans do as well, it is as personal as my suggestion for the training grounds
Of course there is the risk to destoy all the good in a game with a big change and lots of people will complain, I believe you've seen that before and that's why you have the impression changes are bad, but no matter how much people complain they won't really quit, they'll keep playing it and if everyone bugs about how bad the changes are perhaps the GMs/Admins will change it back to how it was. Doesn't hurt now , does it?
I'm saying this because I've seen it many times =P

People dont like change once theyre set into a server. One look at how things move along in the Suggestions threads is proof of that. _________________ Ryan's Back >=3

I'll give a small fact even tho I really shouldn't compare reign to other ro servers.
I won't mention the server name, tho most of you know which one I am talking about. It's probably the most updated and customized IN A BALANCED way server. I don't mean tons of huge wings and everything, I mean the OFFICIAL updates from the official RO server. It updates constantly and makes small changes all the time, fact is it has 1 to 2k people online every single day. This small fact speaks for itself. It's not from the ads, they don't bother much with them. It's from the simple fact that they update and make it as user friendly and welcoming as possible.
Small things like a custom npc on the starting point saying 'hello and welcome' and giving you free buffs, see that kind of stuff just fill my heart :')
See, I'm not trying to argue here, I love you all guys but what I would love to see is reign finally getting what it deserves - more people.
P.S.: on topic - I haven't seen a GM in 4 days, is that normal? I know luzz is traveling, but where are all the GMs? =O _________________ IGN: Everything with Mao in it.

I'm not against beneficial change at all; I like things that will improve the environment, not radically alter it. I believe the points I raised reflected this. Further, your expression that games get old quickly is subjective and not a concrete truth for everyone.
However, I'll agree on one thing: I'm also amazed that RO is still played by so many.
Quote: | I personally play a lot of games and I am not active in any of them, I go when I feel like it, and what I like to see when I go back after some time is something new that makes the whole game interesting again. |
I don't see how this is at all a relevant argument for why the server should change, rather I see you explaining why you want it to change.
Quote: | It is quite 'self-indulgent' of you as well to ask for it to stay the same when obviously that doesn't help the server as a whole, because new players don't like the old, and some veterans do as well, it is as personal as my suggestion for the training grounds |
In re-reading what I wrote, I did not see any instance of asking the server to remain the same, nor do I see how the server remaining the same would be "obviously" harmful as you have insinuated. In addition, that which you call obvious, I call subjective and open to interpretation.
I simply believe caution should be exerted when one begins to consider changing things. Radical change should be carefully examined. As you no doubt read, I'm clearly for certain changes, though I don't believe the server's core should be changed (rates, max levels, etc).
Quote: |
Of course there is the risk to destoy all the good in a game with a big change and lots of people will complain, |
Bingo. That risk is why discussion of proposed changes are vital to any institution. It is not beneficial to simply enact a change without examining it first; doing so is reckless.
Quote: | I believe you've seen that before and that's why you have the impression changes are bad, |
You don't seem to have a good grasp on my thought processes. While I am against reckless and self-absorbed change, if a change would benefit the whole (with their consent), then I would gladly agree.
Quote: | but no matter how much people complain they won't really quit, |
No? So I won't quit the server if changes I don't agree with are pushed through? Granted, it would likely take more than a few hairstyles or donates to do that. A rate change would do the trick, though.
Quote: | they'll keep playing it and if everyone bugs about how bad the changes are perhaps the GMs/Admins will change it back to how it was. |
I do agree certain things can be reversed should they be seen as harmful.
Quote: | Doesn't hurt now , does it? |
It might, actually. The people you might possibly lose as a result of those changes may not come back or give the server another thought even if they happen to find out the decision they disagreed with had been reversed.
---
So, I continue to disagree with you, and I find I rather dislike the definite tone I am gleaning from your response. It seems to me that you believe you are right without being open to the idea that you might be wrong, and that is a rather dangerous way of thinking. But then, I could very well be wrong about this.

Lol, I remember kelly doing some events.
you should start planning halloween event.
anyway, Sekiria, I would love to continue that but it all ends at the fact that we want different things, maybe i should've made this thread with a poll.
On a side note, I like you, you make your points clear and sound right so I'll agree for now =P You seem like a nice person. _________________ IGN: Everything with Mao in it.

Where's my hi! >:[
As for the changing the level would result in quitting, I personally know that most of my friends would. Getting to 150 is extremely easy, so there would be no point in buying those max level gift boxes. But some have bought 2 or 3, some more. So I don't think lowering the max level is a great idea, the rest I'm pretty much okay with. No harm in making a few stronger monsters in the training grounds and such. _________________ Reneshin ~ 255 Knight Lord

All right, I finally have time to sit down and respond to this.
1. I agree more hairstyles would rock. I find myself using the same 4 and being completely unhappy with the rest of the selection. x.x
2. Novice/Newbie Buffs. I agree on this as well, so long as there is a max level limit. Like say, level 40, considering past that you should be able to get your own buffs. I think this ability could easily be added to the 'Healer' NPC so that if you were level 40 or below, clicking on the healer would apply the buffs as well as heal you.
3. Quests. Reign has plenty of custom quests. And RO itself obviously has story line quests. However, completing quests on Reign seems a bit... not worth the effort when you get enough experience to level three times but can only level once max. I am well aware that you can either enable multi-leveling for everything or nothing. However, I am sure there is *some* was to create a code that would allow multi-leveling on quests but not monster killing.
Instead of more questing I would like to suggest perhaps more events? A few years back we always had a ton of exciting events going on. I know Trashy has been busy with things and not around often, and I do appreciate Skye summoning Bacon and Eggs for us to kill but it is simply not the same as a true event. D:
4. Donates take a long while to create and implement and Reign certainly has quite the selection. I'm sure more are in the works and we'll see some more as time goes on.
5. While harder monsters on the training ground wouldn't be a HUGE problem, I have a problem with just implementing such a thing all because you like to stay there. =P I like to stay a lot of places but the point of Reign and RO in general is to travel around to new places, and fight harder monsters that give you more EXP as you level. Would it be a major problem if this happened? No but I think it's silly.
I don't like the rate/level change simply because I joined Reign Online *because* of the rates and max level. The max level of 255 coincides with the experience rates very well, getting to 255 (even with Angra) is still a bit challenging and time consuming. Lowering the max level to 150 would be like sticking a giant middle finger up at the people who actually took the time to get to 255, legitly or otherwise, lol. And, as I said before, I joined Reign because of the 100x/100x/20x rates. I wouldn't want it any other way. ^^
So, as you can see, I do agree with some of the changes you proposed and being human and not a clone of you I, obviously, disagree with some of your points. We're not all going to see eye to eye, lol. All and all I don't feel that Reign should conform to the ways of other servers. While, yes, Reign could do with some minor changes (I'm sure all servers can, no one is perfect.) I don't believe the core of Reign (the rates/max level) need to be changed. _________________
