How to properly patch

1. Exit ALL Reign Online game clients. Just logging out is not good enough. Close the game client completely.

2. Make sure you have enough space on the drive Reign Online is installed. To be safe, it is good to have at least 200MB free. The more, the better.

3. Click the 'Play Reign Online' icon on your desktop.

4. If there is a new patch available, it will patch automatically. Do NOT interrupt the patch process. Do NOT start another client. Do NOT run another RO client. Doing any of these things while a patch is in process may corrupt your installation.

5. Once patching is completed, click Play and enjoy!


If you patched, and the patch does not work

There are two causes for this:

1. None of your Reign Online files should be opened (that is, locked for writing). This can be caused by the following

a.) you have the Reign Online client open. Close it.

b.) you have another game client installed in the ReignOnline folder. Close ALL RO game clients.

c.) you are sharing your ReignOnline folder through your network, and someone else has the Reign Online client open, or another RO open that resided in the ReignOnline folder. Close all clients.

The best way to patch is to close all programs, and make sure no one is accessing your files before running the Patcher.

2. You have multiple installations of Reign Online. If this is the case, you have to make sure you are patching the right one. If you patch, and see no change, (and you fall into case 2 instead of case 1 above) then you are patching the wrong folder. Find the correct ReignOnline folder and patch from there.


What to do when you cannot fix your patching issue

1. Try to delete server.dat from your Reign Online folder. Restart your computer and reopen the Reign Online. This will force all patches to download again.

2. Download and install the latest Small Installer and install it in the existing Reign Online folder. This will refresh most of your files. The Small Installers are always up-to-date.

3. If all else fails, download and re-install the Full Installer.
