On Saturday, August 13th at roughly 1:20am, Sergeant First Class Anthony Morris' '97 GMC SUV ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. No details have been released on how this happened, but SFC Morris was pronounced dead at the scene. SFC Morris was 35 years old and he is survived by his wife and 5 children.

SFC Morris spent 18 (almost 19) years of his life in the US Army, and just recently spent his last 4 weeks teaching me as my Platoon Sergeant. In those short weeks he gave me advice about positivity in the face of adversity. Worked me hard in physical fitness. Showed me that being a soldier isn't just about being strong and smart. It's about commitment to a cause which is greater than you. It's about having courage, when there is nothing but fear. It's about pushing forward, though the blockade is strong. It's about resiliency, a brave heart, and a little "intestinal fortitude".

A military heart has stopped beating today... Strong, hard-working hands are now at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us that he only takes the very best.
