It's going to always boil down to the better player, but to put it simple...

Scholar is like the magical utility knife. It'll cut you alright, but it can also do so much more.

A wizard has some support techniques as well, but thats not the main reason you play one, you play the wizard for the giant destructive spells it can unleash.

I play Scholar and I find it much more useful than the Wizard. You get better skills to set yourself with like Double Casting, Auto Spell, Land Protector, Violent Gale, Deludge, Volcano, Health Conversion, Soul Burn, Soul Exchange, Mind Breaker, Spier Web, and Wall of Fog(Great for those pesky archers).

Plus the Sorcerer class looks like it'll become more fun to use because it gets more AoE skills.

It depends what class you fight; Scholar is good against ranged and magic where Wizard is good against melee.

Prof is more of the strategic character. They almost completely rely on certain skills per class. And while their Double Casted-Fire Bolt and DCed-Frozen-Lightning Bolt can be extremely powerful, it sometimes is not enough to kill some classes fast, most notably LK and Champ. Of course unless you have a kiel or two and some cast-delay gears, that can all go out the window and you just spam away, but I'm sure you don't so yeah. They're also great SinX hunters as long as you wear sleips/moonlight flower.
Of course, any class that has maya and obviously GTB is almost an insta-loss for you.

Wiz, on the other hand, is extremely prone to high destruction. They like raping people with SG and JT all day long. LKs are especially easy to kill if they aren't smart. However, notably on SG, they're cast delay is SO terrible that it almost requires cast delay gears or high matk for quicker kills. Unlike prof, they aren't TOO affected by Maya if they just SG, and with Marc or ED you can just JT spam but if your opponent is harboring BOTH, you're screwed. Best you could hope for is LoV blinding them constantly and they're too stupid to Magnum, unless they're magic/AD in which case you have little hope still. And again, obviously GTb leaves little hope, but more than Prof since you have Magic Crasher.

In conclusion
+Prof is much more fun to play with (IMO)
-Maya and GTB just own prof, and Marc/ED does a little bit
+Wiz is much stronger to use
-Maya+Marc/ED=raped, GTB=raped

For you, I'd suggest Wiz. But HEY, I got both so HA HA HAHA HA!

For the record, I "accidently" wrote all this with mostly LKs in mind, since they are pretty much the mortal enemies of these classes.
