Post subject: Issue with connecting |

I just downloaded the game, it seems to have patched successfully, I clicked on play game, entered my login ID and password and it fails to connect to the server. I have tried it many times, I tried restarting my computer, still does not work. Any ideas? |

maybe your current internet isn't strong enough and when you try and log in the game instantly causes too much lag...that's what happened with me till my mom got the new internet connection...but before you do get a new one it'd be best to listen to some other people's ideas cuz they might know how to get around it without having to get new internet _________________

Hey man, ermm usually installing the small installer works or sometimes it's the firewall on your internet not allowing you in. It might be worth looking at other peoples threads in this section to see how they solved their problems. _________________ Characters-

I'm leaning towards firewall though cause normally even if your patching isn't 100% correct the game will still let you in, only to cause an error shortly after. Not connecting at all seems like a net or firewall problem. But I am no expert so don't take my word on it, that's just my opinion and attempted help _________________ Characters-

I believe Glenfiddich's assumption to be correct. Your issue with failing to connect to the server can stem from any one of three possible problems. First is your Firewall. If your firewall settings are high, it will block even inbound/outgoing connections for games. Some routers / modems allow specific gaming exceptions to be added so that online games can be run without interference. Alternatively, lowering the firewall settings is also a solution (but this also leaves you more vulnerable in comparison to a high firewall).
Secondly, there is a possibility of some form of lag on your computer that may be eating up your bandwidth. Please refer to the following thread if you think this is the case: http://www.reignonline.net/viewtopic.php?t=137
Notable bandwidth-eating services: Other games, Bittorrent, Netflix Instant-Watch.
Lastly, if all else fails and you think the problem is outside of your home but before the server itself, you can perform a traceroute to determine exactly where the problem occurs:

Well something someone posted worked, I think it was changing my Anti Virus to AVG, which worked out well for me as I was looking for a good replacement to Kaspersky. Thank you to everyone for the help! |
